Black Diamond
On March 4 at 7:59 p.m. on the 28800 block of 216th Ave. SE, officers stopped a vehicle for failing to signal. Upon contacting the driver, it was discovered that he was the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant from King County. The driver was taken into custody, and later released at the scene under direction of the King County Sheriff’s Office.

On March 4 3:06 a.m. on the 28800 block of SR 169, officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. Upon contact, it was discovered that the 20-year old male appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Following an investigation that included a breath test of .130, the male was booked into the Enumclaw Jail.

On March 2 at 9:54 a.m. on the 31200 block of 3rd Ave., officers were dispatched to a citizen dispute at a business in Black Diamond. Upon arrival, two subjects were contacted in regards to a vehicle that needed to be picked up, but there was an issue with another vehicle being dropped off on private property. Officers remedied the situation and both parties were able to successfully accomplish their needs.
Covington
On February 27 at 12:55 p.m. on the 25800 block of 164th Ave. SE, according to a female student, she was given two bite sized brownies, that were later suspected of being infused with marijuana and after eating the brownies, became sick. The female was taken to a local hospital where she was treated. The male, who had given the female the brownies, stated he and a friend went a family friend’s home where they made a batch of brownies and stuck them in the freezer with the family friend’s marijuana brownies. The family friend is a user of edible marijuana products. The male stated he might have picked up the wrong brownies when he went back to get the ones he had made. Check of the male’s backpack revealed a jar of marijuana buds that the male stated he had stolen from the family friend. The male was released to his parent, and per school policy, the male was suspended for a designated amount of time. The male was also recommended to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office for charges of Delivery of a controlled substance to another.

On February 23 at 7:53 p.m. on the 27500 block of Covington Way SE, business security had been alerted by shoppers that an individual was in the business parking lot following customers around and attempting to take items from the carts of customers as they loaded their vehicles. Upon contact, the male suspect admitted to attempting to take items due to having no money or job. It was learned that the male had not actually taken any items. The male was trespassed from the business and transported off the property.

On February 22 at 1:11 a.m. on the 26100 block of 164th Ave. SE, a vehicle was observed being driven in excess of the posted speed limit. While attempting to make contact, the driver accelerated and failed to negotiate a roundabout, then slid and turned sideways before stopping on the side of the road. Upon contact, the male, who had an intermediate driver’s license, had two 16-year olds in the vehicle with him. The male apologized for his actions. Parents were called and the teens released to their parents. The male was cited for Reckless Driving, Speeding, Violation of Intermediate License by driving after 1 a.m., and having passengers under the age of 20 who were not related/family.
King County
On March 2 at 7:39 a.m. on the 25600 block of Summit Landsburg Rd., it was reported that someone broke into an equipment storage unit by breaking off the handle. Missing items included tape measure, stopwatches, shot puts in a bag and canopy.

On March 1 at 11:38 p.m. in the area of SE 176th St., and SE 171st Way, a vehicle was observed crossing two lanes of traffic without signaling, in order to enter a left turn lane. Upon contact, check of the male revealed he had a suspended license for unpaid traffic tickets and a warrant for failing to appear for Assault, 4th degree, Domestic Violence. The male was booked into Kent Jail on his warrant and was additionally cited for Driving Without a Valid Operator’s License, Driving Without Insurance, and Unsafe/Improper Lane Change.

On March 1 at 8:30 a.m. on the 14200 block of SE 201st St., a vehicle was observed stopping in front of a residence with a female passenger exiting and going through a community mailbox stealing mail. Incoming mail was found on the ground. When the driver saw a neighbor, the driver and passenger fled the area. Search of the area ended with negative results.

On March 28 between 6:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. of March 1 on the 21600 block of SE 298th Pl., someone broke into a work vehicle that was parked on a driveway in front of a residence. Stolen item included a bag of tools.

On February 24 at 5:48 p.m. on the 17200 block of 140th Ave. SE, two males were observed attempting to hotwire a vehicle in a business parking lot. Upon contact, one of the males stated that the vehicle was the other male’s and the only way to start the vehicle was to hotwire it. Check of the first male revealed he had 4 misdemeanor warrants. He was booked into SCORE (South Correctional Entity) on his warrants. The second male provided a statement and was released.

On February 23 at 1:39 p.m. on the 37800 block of 39th Ave. S, when a deputy opened the door to a vacant house with the owner standing by, a male was standing on the other side. A female was also found in a bedroom closet. The owner stated he had no idea who the couple was, and wanted them trespassed. Check of the male revealed he had two warrants – Theft, 3rd degree and a non-extraditable. Search of the male revealed a set of keys with 4 keys having shaved edges. The male was booked into SCORE on his warrant. Additional recommended charges included Criminal Trespass, 2nd degree, and Possessing Burglar Tools. The female was questioned and released.
Maple Valley
On March 4 at 1:45 a.m. on the 21300 block of Kent Kangley Rd., a driver was stopped for improper lane travel. The male was cited for DUI and his vehicle impounded.

On March 2 at 4:30 p.m. on the 27000 block of SR 169, a male was observed concealing items on his person and leaving a business without attempting to purchase them. Upon contact, the male resisted being cuffed by security. He was eventually released and told to expect Theft, 3rd degree charges in the mail.

On February 26 at 3:37 p.m. on the 26900 block of Maple Valley/Black Diamond Rd. SE, officers were dispatched to a business where it was reported that a group of vehicles were revving their engines and generally causing a disturbance. Upon contact, a known male admitted to causing a disturbance and stated that there was not any place to hang out. The male was given a Trespass Warning Letter and released.
