Black Diamond

On February 27 at 9:05 p.m. in the area of Lawson Street at 3rd Ave., an officer was dispatched to a King County Metro bus, off the road in the snow. The tail end of the bus had slid off the roadway into a ditch causing the bus to become stuck. There was no damage and King County Metro dispatched a wrecker to pull the bus out.

On February 25 at 8:19 p.m. on the 31100 block of 3rd Ave., an officer was dispatched to an animal complaint. It was found that a small dog has been left out in the cold for an extended period of time with no food or water. This case was forwarded to King County Animal Control for additional investigation.

On February 20 at 7:32 p.m. in the 30200 block of 224th Ave. SE, officers were dispatched to a location regarding a report of a verbal domestic between two individuals in a parking lot. Upon arrival, officers determined that no crime had been committed. However, one of the individuals involved had an outstanding arrest warrant and was booked into jail.

Covington

On February 20 at 10:12 p.m. on the 17400 block of SE 270th Pl., officers were dispatched to a business regarding what was reported as an assault. Upon arrival, the suspect male had left the business on foot. According to the assistant manager, the male wanted to return an item without a receipt and began yelling and cursing when he was refused. His anger turned into rage after a search of all business receipts for the month turned up with negative results. Being told to leave the business several times, the male grabbed a handful of plastic bags and threw them at the assistant manager before leaving the business. The male was located walking nearby and upon contact by an officer, who did not know that the male had already been contacted and cleared by another officer, began yelling at the officer that he had done nothing wrong. Following a confrontation with the male, the officer learned that the male had not committed assault. The male was released after being trespassed from the business.

On February 19 at 7:46 p.m. on the 27000 block of 185th Ave. SE, someone stole a truck from a business parking lot. Approximately $10,000 worth of items stolen with the truck included a K-Bar knife, propane tanks and horse shoeing tools.

On February 18 at 10:18 p.m. on the area of SE 272nd St. and Hwy. 18, a driver was observed slowly rolling through a stoplight before making a left turn onto the highway ramp. Upon contact, a strong smell of intoxicants could be detected coming from the vehicle. The driver also initially indicated that there were no firearms or knives in the vehicle. The male also denied consuming alcohol even though a strong odor of alcohol was coming from the male. A second officer on scene yelled that the passenger had a gun, which was being held at the passenger’s hip while pointing at the first officer. The handgun, with loaded magazine, was secured by officers. The driver stated he felt it was his right not to inform the officer of the gun and that he did not have a concealed weapon permit. A knife was also found on the male that he had not declared as he used it in his workplace and did not see it as a knife. The male refused to take breath tests and his vehicle was impounded. The male was booked into King County Jail for carrying firearms and DUI. The passenger was booked for carrying firearms and weapons apparently capable of producing bodily harm. Additional recommendation was that the driver should forfeit his firearm due to it being concealed while loaded without a concealed weapon permit and being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

King County

On February 23 between 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on the 18800 block of SE Covington-Sawyer Rd., someone pried a window open that was already cracked and repaired with duct tape. A couple of rooms were ransacked, and the garage was also entered. Stolen items included backpack, coins, jewelry/box, various documents, prescription meds, safe, tax returns, television, hand tools, vacuum cleaner, two televisions, and air compressor.

On February 22 at 8:25 p.m. on the 14100 block of SE Petrovitsky Rd., several females received food/sodas through a drive-up business window. After leaving the window, one of the females walked into the business and threw a cup of soda into the French fry cooker before running out again. Due to the fryer having to be shut down, customers cancelling their orders were refunded.

On February 20 at 7:30 a.m. on the 33000 block of 176th Ave. SE, a vehicle was observed being driven up and down driveways along a street. The driver of a vehicle fitting the description was contacted in the area. His pants were off, but laying across his waist and legs. The male stated that he and the female passenger, who was fully clothed, had been fooling around in a friend’s driveway. Both occupants were noted as having lots of prior thefts. Because there was no proof that the vehicle was the same, the couple was released.

On February 18 at 12:36 a.m. on the 14800 block of SE Petrovitsky Rd., a vehicle was observed being driven without any lights on, as well as was dragging something under it causing a loud scraping noise. As the driver pulled over, he went over a curb onto a sidewalk before eventually coming back down again. Upon contact with the 19-year-old driver, it was noted that there was damage to the vehicle. The side airbags had deployed, the front wheel had been driven on the rim as the tire was gone, caved in bumper/hood, and fluid was leaking from the vehicle. The male stated he did not know what happened, just that the vehicle had started to drive funny. The male admitted to smoking a bowl of marijuana. After exiting the vehicle, the male smelled of an odor of intoxicants. Search of the male, after failing the Field Sobriety Tests revealed a jar of marijuana. The male gave breath samples of .163/.160 and was cited for DUI under 21 years of age and his vehicle impounded. Possible additional recommended charges include Possession of 40 grams or less of marijuana.

On February 17 at 2:38 p.m. on the 14200 block of SE 171st Way, a vehicle was observed in a business parking lot where there were ongoing issues. After two males were observed getting out of the vehicle and hovering around it, they were contacted. Asked what they were doing, they responded that they were hanging out. Check of the driver revealed he had a warrant for Theft, 3rd degree. He was booked into SCORE (South Correctional Entity) on his warrant. The passenger, who smelled of narcotics, was released after his name returned clear.

On February 15 at 10:21 p.m. on the 27200 block of SE Kent Kangley Rd., while checking a local park, a truck and travel trailer were observed parked in the parking lot. A male was contacted in the trailer and told he could not camp in the park. While talking with the male, he admitted to being drunk and smelled of the odor of. The male was told he could spend the night, but had to move the next morning.

Maple Valley

On February 26 at 11:39 p.m. on the 25700 block of SR 169, a female was observed injured, bleeding, and passed out in a parking lot. The known female was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

On February 18 at 9:30 a.m. on the 26800 block of SR 169, a female was observed passed out in a business parking lot getting wet with rain. The known female was transported to a local hospital for detox.

On February 18 at 12:14 a.m. on the 24600 block of Witte Dr. SE, a vehicle was observed crossing over a lane a couple of times. Upon contact, the male driver stated that there was a rock in the road and that he did not have any ID with him. Check of the male revealed he had a suspended license and warrant for Contempt of Court. The vehicle was impounded and the male booked into King County Jail for his warrants. He was additionally charged with Driving While License Suspended, 3rd degree.
