Black Diamond is hosting their Hometown Christmas for its fourth year on Railroad Avenue, also known as the City’s “Historic District.”
Events on Saturday, December 10 will kick off at 10 am and end at 4 pm.
Throughout the day everyone can enjoy free hayrides, visits from Santa, storytelling, wreath-making and caroling.
The Black Diamond Bakery will announce the winners of a children’s ornament-making contest, and they will host cookie decorating for kids.
Storytellers will perform at 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm at the Museum,
where they will be handing out cookies and hot chocolate to visitors.
The Eagles will open their doors for free wreath-making, and children may join in the painting class by Black Diamond Arts Alliance. They expect that children and adults will leave with some memorable handmade gifts and decorations for loved ones.
Local churches are expected to sing Christmas Carols up and down the avenue, and The Smokehouse and Antique Store are inviting everyone in for special treats and Christmas specials.
“We are also expecting hot kettle corn, cotton candy and lots of wholesome merry-making,” said Leih Mulvihill, this year’s chairman.
Hometown Christmas welcomes all Black Diamond merchants and groups to join the festivities with additional activities on December 10. “Everyone wins when we join together for the celebration,” said Mulvihill.
Mulvihill wants to remind everyone to bring a canned or packaged food item for the Community Center Food Bank. “Christmas is all about sharing joy, and we want to help those in need throughout our community,” she said. Boxes will be stationed throughout the avenue to collect donations.
