Proclamation: That Saturday, June 9, 2018 be declared as Rob Morrow Day. Tahoma Superintendent of Schools Rob Morrow was also declared as the recipient of the 2018 Golden Maple Leaf Award. Morrow’s list of accomplishments included his support beginning in 2003 of taking a team of teachers and staff from Tahoma Junior High School and educating all Tahoma School District students about the importance of remembering heroes each Memorial Day and then taking the students to Tahoma National Cemetery where they place small U.S. flags at every gravesite in Tahoma National Cemetery. Murrow was also credited beginning in 2006 with working closely with the community first responders to coordinate a yearly safety intruder/lockdown drill that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a model for other school districts to practice; and beginning in 2015 partnering with Maple Valley Rotary and then coordinating a task-force to help with mental health issues and chemical dependence that young people face in the Maple Valley/Tahoma School District area. The outcome was Nexus Youth and Families of Maple Valley. Citizens were urged to join in honoring Morrow’s outstanding community service to the great City of Maple Valley and Tahoma School District.

Introduction: Andrew Dacuag has been hired by the City as the new Deputy City Clerk replacing Jennifer Cusmir, who has become the new Communications Specialist. Dacuag comes from the City of Kent where his duties included contracts specialist for Public Works.
