Monday Morning, 03/12/2018 around 1030 hours students at Sylvester Middle School saw a student in class with a gun on his person, they immediately reported that to the principal. No threats were made to any students or the school. The school was immediately placed into lockdown and King County Sheriff’s Office which contracts with Burien Police responded within minutes. The suspect, a 15 year old male was placed under arrest and a handgun was located a short time later hidden in the classroom. The lockdown has since been lifted
This is a perfect use of the term, “if you see something, say something”. The students reported the incident immediately, the school acted quickly and placed the school in immediate lockdown, so that Police and School Security could respond and investigate further.
The suspect was booked into the Youth Service Center in Seattle.
