Toddler & Family Story Times

Friday, March 2, 9, 16 and 30, 10:30am

Ages 2 to 3 with adult.

Stories, songs, and finger plays just right for toddlers! This program is designed with toddlers in mind, but all children are welcome. Social time after Story Time with toys and bubbles.

 

Block Party! LEGO @ the Library

Saturday, March 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, 2-3:30pm

Tuesday, March 6, 13, 20 and 27, 6:30-8pm

All ages welcome.

Come to the library for an unstructured, creative play open-house. Stay for the entire event or pop in for a few minutes. We supply the bricks, you supply the imagination! Other building supplies will also be provided.

 

Infant & Young Toddler Story Times with Stay & Play

Newborn to 24 months with adult.

Reading with Rover

Sunday, March 18, 1pm

For school-age children accompanied by an adult.

Build reading skills and confidence by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog in a welcoming environment. Reading with Rover is a community-based literacy program working with schools and libraries throughout the greater Seattle area.

 

Tiger and the Dried Persimmon Puppet Show

Friday, March 23, 10:30am

Presented by Thistle Theatre.

Family program, all ages welcome with adult.

A young tiger believes he’s the fiercest creature in Korea until he travels down a mountainside, sees a dried persimmon and is terrified. Enjoy his misadventures with animals, totems and a thief, revealing the rich culture and traditions of Korea.

 

Student Strings Performance

Thursday, March 29, 7pm

Family program, all ages welcome with adult.

Enjoy some violin music with a recital from enthusiastic Suzuki students. This group of Suzuki violin students comes from Joyful Sound Violin Studio and Ballance Talent Education. The performers are ages 3 years and older and will play a pleasing mix of folk songs, classical pieces and fiddle tunes.

Thursday, March 1 and 15, 4-5:30pm

Middle and high school ages.

Play Switch, Wii U, Wii, Xbox One and Xbox 360 games or just hang out with friends.

 

Write On

Thursday, March 8, 4pm

Middle and high school ages.

Meet other aspiring authors and improve your craft at our teen writing circle. Meet the 2nd Thursday of every month to share your writing (never required!), give and receive feedback, explore a different literary device through discussion and writing exercises, and most of all have fun!

 

Art Club

Friday, March 16, 3-5pm

Middle and high school ages.

Hang out with other artists and unleash your creativity through guided and not-so-guided activities. Drop in the 3rd Friday of every month for a new project.

 

Board-dom

Thursday, March 29, 4-5:30pm

Middle and high school ages.

Relax, snack, play board games or just hang out the last Thursday of each month.

Talk Time Classes

Practice speaking English with other English language learners. Learn about American culture and meet people from around the world. Classes are free. Join any time!

90th Academy Awards Preview Party!

In anticipation of the Academy Awards Ceremony on March 4, film historian Lance Rhoades shares highlights from previous ceremonies, the current nominees, and even his own Oscar predictions!

It’s the start of a new year, and there’s no better time to join meaningful conversations and programs at your local library! From film screenings and discussions to hearing from authors of your favorite books, you will find many opportunities to learn, connect and have fun!

 

Citizenship Classes

Learn how to become a United States Citizen. Study for the naturalization test, including civics and government questions, reading and writing English, and practicing your interview skills.

Drawing from her most recent book, Colors of the West: An Artist’s Guide to Nature’s Palette, author and artist, Molly Hashimoto, will teach you fun techniques for painting iconic landscapes, flora and fauna of the American west!

New Year, New Career: A GRC in the Community Workshop

With the New Year upon us, it might be time to explore what new opportunities are available at Green River College. Instructor Sidney Weldele-Wallace and colleagues will outline exciting new programs and career training opportunities at Green River College.

 

AARP Tax Help

Mondays and Wednesdays, 10am-3pm

Saturdays, 12-4pm

No age or income limits.

Get free, individualized tax preparation assistance provided by trained AARP volunteers. Please bring picture I.D., documented proof of Social Security Number, and last year’s return as well as any current tax documents. No complex or business returns.

Please pickup and complete the AARP intake form at the Information Desk.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes

Mondays and Wednesdays through March 21, 6pm

Learn English grammar, reading, writing, and conversation skills with an experienced instructor. Classes are free.

Registration required.

Spring Quarter begins on April 2.
