King County: At approximately 11:30pm on March 17, 2017, a 2002 Buick Park Avenue sedan was traveling SB I-5 in the area of SR 516 when it struck the guardrail on the left side, flipped and landed upside down in the median. A female passenger was ejected and came to rest in the northbound lanes of I-5. A white Volkswagen Jetta tried to avoid this passenger and went out of control and rolled on the right side of the northbound lanes with the driver sustaining minor injuries. The passenger that was ejected was struck by several vehicles that were traveling northbound I-5 and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The three other occupants of the Buick were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Detectives are investigating this collision as a Vehicular Homicide and at the time of the collision had no confirmation which one of the remaining occupants was the driver. Due to evidence of impairment on the three survivors in the Buick, a search warrant for blood was obtained on all three.
