Wreaths Across America will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 17 at the cemetery’s flagpole assembly area, at Tahoma National Cemetery located at 18600 SE 240th St., Kent.
Jay Rodney (US Marine Corp Colonel and Washing state Representative for the 5th Legislative District) will be the Keynote speaker this year.
Supporters that will be assisting in honoring our veterans are: The Washington Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, Merchant Marines, Veterans groups, Gold Star Mothers, active duty, reserve, and others.
The U.S. Marine Corps Rifle Team from Marine Barracks Joint Base Lewis-McCord will be conducting a 21-gun salute and a bugler to play “Taps”, a Civil Air Patrol Cadet Color Guard, and the National Anthem will be sang by the Kentwood High School Choir.
Wreaths Across America will be asking the public to assist in placing wreaths throughout the cemetery.
Worcester Wreath Company has been donating wreaths since 1992 for gravesites at Arlington National Cemetery and opened it up to other National Cemeteries since 2006.
The Washington Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, is coordinating the wreath ceremony as a part of Wreaths Across America.
