Howard Glenn
April 2, 1920 – January 5, 2016
Howard, 95, passed away January 5, 2016. He was born in Baker, Oregon and graduated from Gresham High School in Gresham, Oregon.
After graduation he move to Washington and worked for King County Road Crew before joining the Army in 1942.
He met his bride, Barbara, at the USO in Pasadena, CA and they were married in 1943 before he was shipped overseas. He served in the African-European Theater, coming home in 1945 after the occupation of Germany. He returned to his job with King County and moved to Maple Valley in 1945.
Howard was one of the first Maple Valley Volunteer firemen, and was the last living member of the original group. He also served on the Tahoma School Board, was a member of the Maple Valley Grange and the VFW. After retiring, Howard and Barbara spent some summers in their cabin on Hood Canal. Later they discovered the life of snowbirds and wintered in Yuma, AZ, but they always maintained a home in Maple Valley to be close to family and friends.
Howard collected corvair’s and was part of Corvair’s Northwest and participated in many car shows in Arizona and Washington.
Howard is survived by his children Nancy Carr (Lynn) Lakebay, WA, Don Glenn Maple Valley, and Chuck Glenn (Anita) Yakima, WA,
seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at a later date at Tahoma National Cemetery.
